The Music Auditorium is located in the Music Building on the campus of MSU. We regularly record a wide variety of performances there, including both recitals and small concerts, in all styles and instrumentation. We have a stereo pair of microphones permanently installed in the Music Auditorium, allowing us to minimize our setup time for a standard recording. If sound re-enforcement is required, or for more complex recording setups, more time is required for us to set up. Equipped with a grand piano, this is a great venue, convenient not only for us, but for music students as well. |
Located in the Music Building. We do a great deal of recitals here. Hart Recital Hall has room for a small audience and houses a pair of stereo microphones permanently installed allowing for minimal setup and an unobtrusive performance. Recitals with sound re-enforcement will require additional set-up time. Hart is equipped with two grand pianos as well as a harpsichord and is suitable for all genres of classical music. |

The Wharton Center houses two separate stages; most impressively the Great Hall. A superb facility, the largest of all fine arts performances at MSU take place here. Reservation and fees apply. The Wharton Center's own website can be found here. This is home to both the Lansing Symphony Orchestra, and the M.S.U. Symphony Orchestra and Wind Ensemble. Recording is done using various rigs with snakes located in both the catwalks and stage right leading to the 2nd dressing room. |
The Auditorium building on campus houses two sizable venues for performance: the Auditorium and the Fairchild Theatre. Not only are both of these stages used a great deal by the Theatre department, these are excellent spaces for large ensemble performance, and we frequently see concerts here. It is worth noting that the auditorium is not only subject to rental fees, but is a Union house, so there are further expenses to pay to have the required Union staff on hand. This does tend to be an expensive venue to reserve. |

Lansing, Michigan This church is designed in a pyramid sitting about 700. Concerts are done at one end of the hall in the choir risers under the organ. The church is built with a very quiet HVAC system, wonderful acoustic properties, and stage lighting. M.S.U. Chorale performances occupy most of the concerts at Plymouth. Recording is done with a remote rig; microphones, cable and a recording box usually located in the hallway. Recording sessions for larger ensembles, such as the M.S.U. Children's Choir, have been done here and is a great place for very reverberant sounds. |
East Lansing, Michigan The Chapel is a smaller version of Plymouth Congregational Church using a pyrimid structure. This venue is much smaller, and typically holds concerts of other vocal ensembles and recitals. Recording is done with a remote rig, and a stereo pair. There is a room in the rear of the church where the rig is placed with a throw-port for cable access. |
