"The anasarca which follows scarlatina"

View this document as a PDF

(7 December 1839)Reporter's version of a paper delivered by Snow at a meeting of the Westminster Medical Society on 7 December 1839, published in Lancet 1 (1839-40): 441-43.

No transcription is currently available, but I have posted a PDF scan of a photocopy. The quality is indifferent, but I will replace it with a direct download from Lancet archives at some point in the future when I have access to electronic resources at a research library.

In the paper, Snow relates twelve cases where anasarca, extreme generalized edema, seemed to follow incidents of scarlet fever. Renal disease seemed probable in most, but not all, twelve cases. The PDF includes a comment by Addison.
