Project_Builder 1.0

Project_Builder will be a repos like utility that will give our staff and partners the ability to create, administer, and manage online resources through point and click utilities. Like repos, projects will be able to craft the design of and deposit the materials for a resource with easy to use online forms. But where repos and many digital repositories focus on an object --- either analog or digital -- and issues of long term preservation, project_builder will focus on ingesting a variety or resources as well as developing point and click utilities for crafting delivery applications for these pieces of data. For instance, where Repos is primarily focused on storing and describing singular objects such as audio, video, images, and texts, project_builder will give projects the ability to ingest links, current events, facts, etc…

Not only will project_builder re-think the ingestion of materials, it will also tackle the output of materials. Through admin tools, projects will be able to build and edit galleries, dynamic pages, and searches. The parameters defining these resources will be stored and dynamically populate code to create the online pages. The architecture of project_builder will make it so these modules of code can be dropped into any project and populated according to the parameters stored in the database. Programming will still have to take place per project, but over-all labor will decrease and much more of the planning and configuration of specific resources of the projects will be placed in the hands of the project manager/partner instead of the programmers.

Project_builder will also feature project management tools that will allow project managers to meet with, schedule tasks for, and more easily monitor the work of those people participating in the construction of the project.
