Unit Schedule

Unit 1: Interface Design (weeks 1-5)

We will focus on learning Dreamweaver and Fireworks as well as issues of web design (including graphics, layout, typography, color, navigation, labeling, web rhetoric, web writing). In addition to several web sites, you will be asked to read Web Style Guide (chapters 2, 4, 5, 6, 7) and Digital Multimedia (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8) as well as do the Dreamweaver tutorial and Fireworks tutorial.

Unit 2: Information Architecture (weeks 6-10)

We will focus on learning Visio, Flash, and dynamic web elements as well as issues of information architecture (including site design and management, project panning and execution, information design). In addition to several web sites, you will be asked to read Web Style Guide (chapters 3) and Digital Multimedia (9, 11, 14) as well as do the Flash tutorial and Visio tutorial.

Unit 3: Web Usability (weeks 11-15)

We will focus on learning to work with audio, video and more dynamic web elements as well as issues of web usability (including user preferences and patterns, audience analysis, web rhetoric). In addition to several web sites, you will be asked to read Digital Multimedia (10, 12, 13, 15).
